GBA and FHE: Hands On Atlanta

Come out and help your community with Hands On Atlanta.

GBA and FHE will work together to reach out into the 

community and make a difference while having a little fun.

 

Date: Saturday, October 6

 

 Time: 9:00AM – 1:00PM

 

Location: 285 Sheridan Dr

I 75/85 –

 Exit at Peachtree Street exit.  Go North on Peachtree to Sheridan Drive.

 Go right on Sheridan and school will be ahead at next street.

 

From the Arts Center MARTA Station

Take the #23 or the #110 bus to the corner of Peachtree and Sheridan. 

 Walk right on Sheridan for two blocks to 285 Sheridan.

 

Hands On Atlanta Volunteer Project

 

Agency: Garden Hills Elementary

  

Description: Garden Hills Elementary is one of the first authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program schools in the state. They offer a compelling and rigorous education to each of our students and meet yearly academic performance standards. Hands on Atlanta Day volunteers will beautify this school by:

• Constructing nature trail
• Planting organic vegetable gardens
• Painting music room

 

Volunteers must be at least 5 years old with adult supervision. This project site is located in the Buckhead community and is accessible for wheelchair users.

Garden Hills Elementary School was originally built in 1938. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. Garden Hills is special because of their incredible diversity. They have children and parents from all corners of the globe, which creates a wonderful environment for learning. Year round volunteers are needed for after-school tutors and before school Friday enrichment programs.
